TRANSFIGURING CONGREGATIONS

Transfiguring Congregations is a comprehensive transgender curriculum that supports the Unitarian Universalist Association's Welcoming Congregation Program by helping individuals and congregations to learn about the experiences of transgender people in order to reduce transphobia and to increase awareness of transgender issues within our faith communities.

Transfiguring Congregations consists of four sessions in which participants acquire basic information about gender identity and expression and apply that knowledge as they learn how actively to welcome transpeople into our faith communities.

Transfiguring Congregations engages diverse learning styles as it explores the intersections of gender and faith, examines what it means to be an ally, and prepares participants to build collaborative relationships to expand and enrich our Welcoming communities.

THE BISEXUALITY CURRICULUM

The Bisexuality Curriculum supports the Unitarian Universalist Association's Welcoming Congregation Program by giving participants the knowledge and language to counter assumptions and stereotypes, by exploring the links among different forms of expression, and by empowering participants to make their communities more just and welcoming.

The Bisexuality Curriculum consists of four sessions that invite participants to move beyond binaristic thinking, to consider bisexuality in relation to other sexual orientations and to religious and cultural traditions, and to develop strategies for welcoming bisexuals and members of other historically marginalized groups in every area of our congregational life.

The Bisexuality Curriculum engages diverse learning styles as it challenges dualistic understandings of sexual orientation, examines what it means to be an ally, and prepares participants to build collaborative relationships to expand and enrich our Welcoming communities.

ABOUT INTERWEAVE'S CURRICULA

Transfiguring Congregations was created for Interweave Continental by Julia Terry and Johnny Blazes.  Andrew Coate, Joss Greene, Barb Greve, Melissa Heckman, Alex Kapitan, Chris Paige, Pauline Park, Leela Sinha and Dean Taylor served as reviewers for Transfiguring Congregations.

The Bisexuality Curriculum was created for Interweave Continental by the Reverend Jane Dwinell, Dana Dwinell-Yardley, Allyson Diane Hamm, Scott McNeill, the Reverend Amy Zucker Morganstern and the Reverend Ann Schranz.
